Our Rooms
Our Bumblebee room is inviting, comfortable and well equipped. The room is cosy and stimulating and allows babies to explore in a safe environment. Within this area we have a calm sleep room, separate nappy changing area and a separate dining room therefore allowing the babies needs to be met as necessary. We utilise the dining room in many ways including messy and sensory play.
Although changes are sometimes inevitable, we aim to keep staff changes to a minimum especially in our baby room. We feel it is important for babies to develop within a secure environment with a main core of familiar nursery practitioners.

Bumble Bees
3 months- 2 years (3 months- 20 months)

Our smallest children at Rise and Shine have their own garden area with doors that open out into it so when the weather is nice we can have continuous play inside and out. The children have their own space so even non-walkers can explore and play safely. They have a combination of grass and soft flooring.

Bumble bees Outdoor Area

Ladybirds
20 months - 2.5 years
Our toddlers have a large main play space set up into areas to support their holistic development including a separate quiet area. Toilets are located down a short corridor that is equipped with changing facilities. All of the children also have direct free- flow access to our safe and secure outdoor area.
The routine for our toddler children is more structured than in the baby room as most children respond well to routine because it empowers them to be confident and aware of the world around them.
One of the main aims for the toddler age range is developing their personal, social & emotional skills, i.e learning to take turns and share toys, communicating and establishing relationships with peers and adults. This is achieved by learning through play and informed planning through observation. Children learn by example and can develop more quickly in groups of children of a similar age / stage of development, particularly with regard to potty training, eating and social skills.

Ladybirds and Caterpillars Outdoor Area
Our children in Ladybirds and Caterpillars have a large shared space with direct access for play and exploration. This includes a large bikes and trikes road to develop physically. A construction area with building material and large diggers. Our music wall to make some tunes. We are also luck to have a wonderful sand and water area with a very popular water wall, a great way for children to practise fine and gross motor skills. The small world area tyres provide opportunities for children to be imaginative and create their own world with the resources they desire. We have an outdoor role play area and house for children to act out their favourite things. The newest addition to our outdoor space is our wonderful mud kitchen, the children have so much fun mixing pies and mud shakes.
Caterpillars
2.5 years - 4 years

Our Caterpillar room is for our oldest children.
Our pre-school area offers a variety of educational resources and activities to enhance children’s learning and development through play. We place more emphasis on preparing the children for school. We introduce a more structured routine and slightly more formal way of learning, which takes the children on their continual journey towards their first year at school. We offer Early Education in our Caterpillar Room for children aged 3.
We deliver a comprehensive nursery curriculum based on the Welsh Curriculum
The curriculum is based on the five developmental pathways:
Physical Development
Exploration
Well-being
Belonging
Communication
Our nursery practitioners follow and In The Moment Planning approach to observations and assessments. This allows children to take the lead in their own learning and interests. Our practitioners are their to facilitate and act on their needs and choices.
